Speaking of plumbing reminds me of blogging, if nothing else but for the “ing” at the end, although the “plumb” part might be apropros as in “plumb crazy” or “thorough and complete” as in thorough and complete waste of time. It might also be apropos of a plumb line, in determining verticality as in you’re vertical and reading this. So, on to today’s subject, blogging:
So today I was on the phone with my mother, mentioning to her about my sister’s blog Boondock Ramblings, In the background, my father says in a dead-pan voice: “Somebody reads it?”
As if no one would want to read my sister’s musings on “a crazy life with toddler, hubby and pets,” as the tagline beneath the title of her blog says.
But people do read it. As of this afternoon, she was ranked No. 4 in the Family Blogs category over there at Humor-Blogs.com; No. 18 overall. Who would’ve thunk that a blog in which she talks about her son pooping and peeing and her husband not wanting her son to wear the color pink would be so popular? Go figure. I mean, we all poop and pee and know people who don’t want their sons to wear the color pink. As they say, but not around here: Whaddya gonna do?
Which brings me back to my dad’s original question: “Somebody reads it?”
That is the hope anyway as we write this inane chatter. That someone on the other side of the world, or the country, or even our town, connects with what we’re writing. At least, that is my hope: that somehow that something I write connects with you wherever you may be.
Or not.
